When most people think of plastic surgeons these days, they immediately picture sexy Hollywood stars with face-lifts, breast augmentations or tummy tucks. While aesthetic surgery plays a large part in the world of plastic surgery, plastic surgeons also play a key role in reconstructive surgeries, fixing congenital deformities and removing tumors.

Aesthetic Surgeries Performed by Plastic Surgeons

Most notably, plastic surgeons are known for their work in aesthetic surgery. Usually elective, aesthetic surgery is used to enhance or modify your body. Following are some of the types of aesthetic surgery procedures that plastic surgeons perform:

-Lifts

Plastic surgeons can lift just about any part of your body. Lifts are usually performed on the arms, breasts, brows, buttocks/thighs, face and neck. Anywhere that sagging skin can become unsightly, a plastic surgeon can perform a lift to tighten it up.

-Implants

The most famous of implants, of course, are those used for breast augmentation. However, plastic surgeons offer a number of other implants for various parts of the body. Calf implants can make the calves appear to be more muscular. Cheek implants are inserted to modify the shape of the face, often to create the appearance of well-defined cheekbones. Other facial implant options include chin, jaw or lip implants. Pectoral implants are also available for men and give the impression of a toned, muscular chest.

Plastic surgeons often perform implant removals as well. Patients who are unhappy with the results of an augmentation involving implants may want them removed. Some implants also lose effectiveness over time, prompting patients to seek their removal.

-Fat Transfers/Removal

Liposuction is a popular method performed by plastic surgeons to reduce fat. During liposuction, fat deposits are actually removed from the body. Alternatively, plastic surgeons can also perform “fat transfers,” in which excess fat from one area of the body is injected into another area — simultaneously smoothing the injection site while reducing the appearance of fat and cellulite in other areas.

-Rhinoplasty

This procedure, also commonly referred to as a “nose job,” can be performed to improve the appearance of a person’s nose, but is oftentimes used to improve the functioning of the nose. Patients with a broken nose or a deviated septum will undergo rhinoplasty to fix respiratory functions. Plastic surgeons can increase or decrease the size of a nose, as well as modify its shape and width.

-Genital Enhancement

Penis enlargement and labial rejuvenation are procedures performed by plastic surgeons to enhance the appearance and functionality of male and female genitals. Penis enlargement involves injecting or grafting fat onto the penis to increase its girth. Currently, there are no surgical methods to improve penis length. Labial rejuvenation reshapes the labia minora in order to improve vaginal appearance or decrease discomfort during sexual intercourse.

-Non-Surgical Procedures

Plastic surgeons also perform a variety of non-surgical cosmetic treatments that generally focus on skin tightening, cellulite removal and wrinkle reduction, although other treatments exists as well.

Other Procedures Performed by Plastic Surgeons

In many cases, aesthetic surgeries can be performed for non-elective reasons. For instance, a breast cancer patient who undergoes a mastectomy (removal of the breast) to combat cancer may have a breast augmentation surgery. Beyond aesthetic surgeries, plastic surgeons also perform non-elective, non-cosmetic surgeries as well. These include:

- reconstructive surgeries for patients following the removal of cancerous tissue from part of the body

- surgeries to fix skin problems, such as skin grafts

- hand surgery

- treating traumatic injuries to the facial structure or hands

- removing tumors from the neck, head, skin, or other soft tissue

- fixing congenital deformities of the hands and face

In today`s cosmetic world, everyone wants to attain the fountain of youth. People do not want to look their actual age and can go to any extent to preserve their youth even after crossing it long ago.

The demand for anti-aging products and cosmetic treatments to restore beauty has increased considerably in the last couple of years. A reason for this could be that this new generation have begun to realize that their life expectancy is now much longer than that of previous generations and people past the age of 40 feel more empowered than ever to redefine the anti-aging process.

Anti-aging products are not merely beauty and skin deep. It is a common misconception for people to think that only creams and lotions come under anti-aging products. Of course they are a part of the skin care range. But age defying cosmetic surgeries such as face lifts, Botox injections, lipoplasty, cosmetic dental surgery, eyelid surgery and many more like these come under anti-aging process .

Doctors also prescribe many anti-aging supplement hormones namely Estrogen, Human growth hormone, testosterone and melatonin to rejuvenate the skin as well as body. Nutritionists prepare special anti-aging diet programs and special tailor-made exercise equipments are also available to conquer the aging menace. Problems specifically related to aging such as memory loss, osteoporosis, erectile dysfunction, impotence are also treated in anti-aging procedures. The objective is not only to look good, but to attain hassle-free and healthy long life.

Normally aging starts much earlier than it shows on the face. The ever increasing stress and hectic life has a negative impact on people and they attain premature aging even before they reach 30. Premature hair greying, baldness, clearly visible wrinkles, sexual dysfunction, impotence problems are commonly seen now even among youth in their late 20s. How to catch aging process in time, so that it can be treated is a million dollar question.

The most common signs of aging include the lack of skin surface regularity, dry skin and increased presence of abnormal pigmentation which resulted in formation of wrinkles. Do not delay if you feel any of these above signs on your skin. Cosmetologists prescribe topical application of niacin to improve skin surface irregularity. Skin pigmentation can be lightened with the use of photoprotective ingredients.

To reduce the appearance of fine lines, moisturizers containing engineered peptides and over-the-counter retinoids are prescribed. For dull and dry skin, cosmeceutical ingredients in a moisturizing agent are recommended to apply to improve skin appearance. Vitamins, such as A, C, E, co-enzyme Q10 that claim to bind to the risky `free-radicals` and mop them up before they can do cell damage and contribute to aging are also prescribed for daily intake. Regular exercise also enhances the blood circulation and improves the skin elasticity.

However it is highly recommended to check the authenticity of the anti-aging products before using them. Just because they are available in market, does not make them safe to use. Many of these substances might have not been regulated by the FDA. Anti-aging products like hormones, certain herbal medicines and even doses of vitamins have been shown to be harmful if taken in excess. So rather than self-experiment, it is a better idea to check with the doctor before using them.

You do not need to starve yourself to attain youthful body. This is a misconception among many people especially who are obese. A balanced diet, regular exercise, abstinence from alcohol, smoking and stress are ingredients for a fit and healthy body. So in a nutshell, a healthy diet, regular exercise, proper sleep, healthy sexual life, low stress, proper care of body and control use of anti-aging products are a good recipe for a long, healthy and youthful life.

Anti aging skin care is made possible by a variety of techniques: Botox, face lifts, microdermabrasion, facials and chemical peels. All of these procedures were developed to help improve the skin condition, and reduce lines like wrinkles and they are all very popular.

However, do you know that taking natural antioxidant supplement also ensure that youthful glow and wrinkle-free skin? Vitamins are naturally occurring substances that are needed to maintain overall body health. Many anti aging skin care products made today contain antioxidant multi vitamin in their formulation. When applied or taken on a daily basis, these antioxidant supplement help the skin regenerate better, avoiding spots and wrinkles.

Below are some explanations on the uses of vitamins in skin care.

Vitamin A – Helps in normal cell division and cell growth. It also protects mucous membranes and the skin by warding off infectious organisms like viruses and bacteria. Retinoids, which are derivatives of Vitamin A, have shown promising results in skin care because of their antioxidant properties. Fine line and wrinkles are reduced because skin toxins are avoided. Retin-A and Renova are anti aging supplement that contains Vitamin A.

Vitamin B – Retains moisture in the skin. Vitamin B helps maintain that health glow and avoids skin irritations, example: Niacin or Vitamin B-3, which is an additive in many cosmetic creams and facial products. Biotin, or Vitamin B-7 is also effective in preventing skin disease and hair loss.

Vitamin C – Also known as ascorbic acid, improves the body’s immunity to diseases. Vitamin C helps the skin recover after sun damage because of its antioxidant properties. Antioxidants help destroy free radicals, as caused by pollution and sun exposure, that can be toxic to the body.

Vitamin E - Repair skin damage due to sun exposure, as well as in maintaining moisture in the skin.

Vitamin K – Is effective against wrinkles and even dark circles under the eyes. Vitamin K has the ability to assist in blood flow as well as in skin elasticity. Skin becomes more elastic as Vitamin K prevents the calcification of skin tissues.

botox treatments

Cosmetic surgery has come a long way since the painful face lifts of the past. Today’s procedures are often non-invasive with very little discomfort to worry about. In addition, cosmetic treatments today have proven to be very effective, whether it is about losing extra pockets of fat or turning back the clock on our skin.

Botox is one of the more popular cosmetic treatments designed with anti-aging in mind. This procedure has already proven quite useful in treating a variety of medical conditions when it was found to be effective on wrinkles as well. The treatment has been around for more than twenty years, giving men and women the chance to shave years off the face by getting rid of deep wrinkles more effectively than any other procedure currently can.

When a patient heads into the doctor’s office for a Botox treatment, she will probably be seated in a chair that is similar to the reclining chair at the dentist’s office. Some doctors will numb the area to be treated prior to doing the injections, but no other anesthetic will be required. The entire process takes about ten minutes to complete, depending on the amount of area that will be treated. Once the procedure is finished, the patient is free to go. There is no recovery time with Botox and few side effects to report.

Botox is a non-invasive, safe process for smoothing out deep lines and wrinkles on the forehead and in the corners of the eyes. If you are unhappy with what the aging process is doing to your appearance, perhaps Botox is the perfect solution for you.
